Mass digital object import?

Hello, I just walked a few of my co-workers through the introduction to the DCB and one of them had an excellent question.

 

The DCB can import an xml file of metadata to create organization, authority records, collections and items, but is there a way to include the digital objects to the records in this upload or do they all have to be uploaded by hand after the metadata import?

Hi Kevin,

Sorry for the delay in answering your question. We have rudimentary digital object xml import working in our development environment at the moment and intend to include it in DCB's 1.1 release, scheduled for next March. The intention is to have upload as part of METS files and as links to EAD files. For release 1.0.8, scheduled for this October, we do have mult-file digital object upload, where the user can select a batch of files and append them as child levels to a single parent-level description.
